Black Pentax Program Plus (aka Program A) w/ SMC-A 50/1.7 Lens in Excellent Condition
Looking for a compact, ergonomic SLR with an excellent lens and the ability to shift between full exposure automation or completely-hands-on manual? You might find the Program Plus to be a fine companion. Its Program mode can make starting out with an SLR less intimidating, but it also allows you to take more control with Aperture-Priority and full Manual modes as you gain experience. The SMC-A 50/1.7 lens was one of the best in its class optically and also offers better compatibility with Pentax DSLRs than SMC-M or older K-mount glass if you happen to use one. Yes, the Super Program has more features (Shutter-Priority, TTL flash w/ a slightly higher sync. speed of 1/125 sec., and a one-step higher shutter speed setting of 1/2000 sec.), but you might not need many, or indeed any, of those features. A bonus for the Program Plus is much-simplified circuitry (14 vs. 38 soldered connections for total stripdown), meaning fewer potential failure-points than its big brother. The molded, removable, front fingergrip naturally falls under the right middle finger, allowing the index finger access to the controls easily, while a thumbgrip on the film door gives even greater purchase, making the Program Plus one of the most comfortable 1980s SLRs to hold and use. This particular low-mileage camera/lens combo is in excellent mechanical & optical, and very good cosmetic condition (there are three small dings in the bottom plate). New light seals have been installed. The viewfinder is clear and bright with only couple of small specks visible. Two new Energizer silver-oxide 357 batteries and a front lens cap are included. Filter diameter is 49 mm. Weight is 655 grams (23 oz). A PDF manual can be emailed by request upon purchase. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
